Academic Offerings

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your interest in James Hogg Middle School!

We know that choosing a middle school for your child is an important and exciting step in their educational journey. Located in the Heart of the Houston Heights area, Hogg Middle School is a wonderful place for students to become part of a community, be challenged academically and learn more about themselves over the next three years.

  • Hogg Middle School boasts a STEM Magnet program that offers opportunities for our students to discover the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
  • As an International Baccalaureate World School, we also offer a wide variety of core courses and extra-curricular activities to allow students to begin exploring their interests. Our International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) is school-wide and incorporated into all areas of study.
  • We do also offer Advanced Academics for students who are identified as Gift and Talented (G/T) by HISD.

Because we are considered a zoned neighborhood school, if you live in the Hogg Middle School attendance zone, you are automatically guaranteed acceptance to Hogg. We do not limit the number of spaces for zoned students. We do, however, encourage our zoned students to apply for the STEM Magnet Program in order to access those specialty courses. If you are not zoned to Hogg Middle School, you must apply online and be selected through our lottery. We are forced to limit the number of spaces for transfer students based on our capacity.  

We will host LIVE tours at Hogg every Thursday, promptly at 1pm, beginning October  2025.  Dates will be posted here. We do not conduct individual tours.
